Children’s Discovery Center is enrolled in the CACFP food program – we offer a nutritious breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack. Our meals are catered from Mid Day Meals. You can print your own Monthly Menu here. Special dietary restrictions must be explained to your child’s caregiver followed with a doctor’s note.
CDC provides formula, baby food, and infant cereal. We provide Simply Right Complete Formula, which is generic for Enfamil, Baby food - Stage 2, and Infant Cereal. If you choose not to use our formula you are responsible for bringing your own.
When inclement weather necessitates changes in our opening or closing times, television stations 3, 6, and 7 and radio station GBI 100.7 and KFAB 1110AM will be notified. If schools and businesses close early, an authorized person should pick up your child as soon as possible.
Toys from home are discouraged as they can 'get lost' or create problems with sharing. Encourage your child to leave toys at home or in the car. Security items are permissible and kept in their cubbies until rest time. Comfortable, inexpensive clothing is best as your child will be at play. Parents provide diapers and wipes.
To protect all of our children from exposure to illness or disease, we ask that you keep your child at home if any of the following symptoms appear:
- An elevated temperature of 101 degrees
- A communicable disease
- Persistent vomiting
- An undiagnosed rash
- Conjunctivitis (pink eye)
- Upper respiratory infection
- Severe cough, cold, influenza
If your child develops any of these symptoms during the day, you will be notified immediately and asked to have your child picked up from the center as soon as possible. Your child may not return to the center until he/she has been fever and symptom free for a full 24 hours without medication.
Medication will only be administered upon written request from the Parent/Doctor. Inform your child’s caregiver/teacher and complete a medication form at the front desk.
For further information on Children's Discovery Center policies and procedures please refer to our Parents Handbook. Please feel free contact us and we will be more than happy to discuss any questions that you may have.
